Uses
Artisan Natural Chalk Finish is the perfect paint for furniture painters. The unique formulation combining chalks and natural pigments allows for a wide variety of looks and techniques to be achieved. May be used on a variety of substrates such as raw and finished timber, plaster, metal and plastics with minimal preparation. Ideal for feature walls and decorative pieces.
Surface Preparation
All surfaces must be thoroughly cleaned and free of dirt, dust, grease, loose or flaking paint, and loose surface plaster. Efflorescence or mould must be treated. Gloss surfaces should be lightly sanded and wiped clean with a damp cloth. Certain timbers such as mahogany, teak, oaks and pine can contain tannins which may bleed through the paint, and these may need additional preparation such as the application of a primer or polyacrylic sealer to seal in the tannin.
Application
Stir contents thoroughly before use with a broad, flat stirrer, using an upward action.
Brush/Roller: Apply a minimum of two coats using either brush or roller. To achieve a classic distressed finish, the first coat should be darker than the second and any subsequent coats. Sand lightly between coats to achieve a buttery smooth final finish.
To protect the finish and complete the distressed look, seal the surface with either Artisan Wax, Artisan Liquid Wax, Artisan Flat Matt Sealer or Artisan Glaze. The use of coloured waxes and glazes will add a more aged patina to the final finish.
Artisan Natural Chalk Finish can also be used with Artisan metallics and Instant Age to give additional creative looks.
Artisan Paint Company takes all care to manufacture a high quality paint. There may be very slight variation between batches due to the natural pigments and chalks used. When painting large items requiring more than 1 litre mix the paint together to ensure uniformity. Artisan Paint is not liable for any damage caused by using the paint outside instruction, or for variations in colour between batches. Paint colour should always be tested by painting out a sample prior to painting a large area.
Thinner: Can be thinned with water.
Drying Times (at 25 °C): Touch: 2 Hours; Recoat: 12 Hours.
Note: Do not apply paint if the air temperature or substrate temperature is below 10 °C or above 35 °C. The temperature should not fall below 10 °C during the drying process.
Clean-up: Water.
